SURGE COUNTER (CDA)
The lightning surge counter (CDA) is integrated by three counters, one magnetic circuit (with gap) and an energy amplifier powered by a battery. It can register three different current levels thus allowing to measure not only the number of strikes but its magnitude, depending on the area in which they are installed.
The CDA allows to calibrate three levels of current, ranging from 400 A to 100 kA. It registers in each counter a determined interval of current, thus assuring the reliability of the surge counts. In addition, the magnetic gapped design avoids the possibility of core saturation.

RELIABILITY OF THE CDA
The CDA was designed with three counters with the purpose of quantifying the current level of the lightning surges that affect a system, thus allowing to measure the severity of the strikes.
